Cash Management & Investments

WSU has over $500 million in operating money and current-use gift funds. From time to time there are dedicated portfolios that are comprised of proceeds of bond issues which are temporarily invested until needed to fund construction projects. All of these assets are invested by external investment managers.

Current Managers

•  Western Asset Management Company is responsible for investing a portion of the University’s operating funds.
•  WSU invests a portion of its operating funds in the Local Government Investment Pool, managed by the Office of State Treasurer.
•  A portion of the current-use gift funds are invested in a fixed income mutual fund managed by PIMCO.
•  Washington State University contracts with WSU Foundation for management and oversight of all endowment fund assets.
